Notice to End Tenancy

Latest revision date: April 2023
Revision due date: April 2025

Who is this form for?

It's for any Berneslai Homes' tenant who is moving out of their Berneslai Homes' property into a property where they will no longer be a Berneslai Homes' tenant. This includes a joint tenant who wants to tell us they have moved out and left the other joint tenant in the property.

Please note that we normally advertise vacancies before the keys are handed in. We don't include the property number in the advert and we would never ask a prospective new tenant to view the property.

Protecting your personal data

By completing this form you acknowledge that we will follow our responsibilities under data protection legislation. We will store the information securely, share it with partners and other statutory agencies where we have the right under law to do this, use it only for the purpose it was provided and process it as set out in our privacy policy. For more information please see our privacy policy on our website

What happens once I have given notice?

When you give us notice, we will do the following:

• Contact you to arrange to inspect your home to ensure that the property is in a good condition and that you have not caused any wilful damage. If we find any damage or if the property and gardens are untidy, we will charge you for putting things right.
• Tell you exactly when your tenancy will end; and
• when and where you have to hand the keys in.

If you give us less than four weeks’ notice we have the right to charge you rent up until the end of your tenancy (the end of the four week notice time). We will do this even if you have moved out of the property and given us back your keys.

Extending or cancelling your notice

There is no legal right to cancel or extend this notice once it has been submitted. If we allow you permission to extend or cancel your tenancy termination, your gas and electric may have already switched over to our preferred supplier for which you would be responsible for. Please contact your Neighbourhood Officer if you would like to cancel or extend your notice. For details of your Neighbourhood Officer contact us on 01226 787878.

Please note this form only gives you one hour to complete, if you need more time simply click on the ‘SAVE FORM’ button at the end of this form.
